Charcoal Sketch

Experiments with a digital charcoal and soft eraser set after listening to a Frank Auerbach interview in which he said that his (impasto) style was not intentional, but merely the by-product of reworking the same image, over and over, layer over layer, out of frustration, until he got it how he wanted it. So, I tried the same with charcoals and this was the result after pushing though what felt like one terrible attempt after another, beyond the point I would normally give up.
